RETROTOURS NEWSETTER
It’s hard to believe that the 2025 season is ‘over the hump’, especially when the heat & humidity are so persistent. I think it’s going to be a warm autumn which means fantastic riding weather ahead until…who knows…late November / early December?
‘The hump’ for me was last week’s 3 day tour to visit the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburg, NY. Six of us made the 650 mile round trip, and we dealt with high temperatures and humidity, a biblical rain storm, and a few mechanical glitches, some self-induced. We also rode through Bethel, where the Woodstock Music Festival happened in 1969. OK, we’re not getting any younger. It was challenging and fun and the bikes, and especially the people I rode with, made it all worthwhile. A full ride report with photos will show up after riding season at www.retrotours.com.
Unscheduled tours in 2025 include one for a repeat customer and his 3 motorcycling nephews. The other was a birthday tour for a husband, wife, and son. I love showing family groups like that a good time while helping a fellow enthusiast knock something off their bucket list. It’s funny how things get crossed off one end of the list while other things get added. Please remember that I am happy to arrange a tour of whatever length you want, whenever you want it, for as few or as many people as you wish.Just email or call and WE CAN MAKE A PLAN THAT SUITS YOU TO A TEE.
This month is Redneck Gyro #15 which, thus far, is a very cozy group of 4 which suits me fine. There is still time and space, so if you’re so inclined I could accept a few more riders. Then again, maybe you have no use for three days of riding classic bikes in West Virginia with a group of very friendly, witty, entertaining, competent, like-minded riders.
No, you probably don’t really deserve a stress free weekend away from work and all of your worries. DON’T RIDE TO ADD DAYS TO YOUR LIFE; RIDE TO ADD LIFE TO YOUR DAYS!
BUCKET LIST ALERT…..
I feel like I have at least one more 10 day run to The Barber Museum in me. It’s a big commitment: nearly 3,000 miles, a bit over $2,000 all told (fees, insurance, gas, food, lodging, etc.) and 10 days on the road. Just you and the bike…no chase vehicles. It may be a once in a lifetime trip for most, but I am ready to go again; it keeps calling me, and I would like someone to ride with, and I am a formulating for 2026. This is your EXTREME advance notice so prepare for Barber 2026 now; it’s in the beginning of October. Let’s talk.
………Don’t wait ‘till it’s too late
